County Gets Pheasants From State Department
Twenty one pheasants arrived for Sidney and Cheyenne county men in three weeks from the state game and fish department. Seven crates held males and two females each, sent to L. G. Lowe, M. W. Dimery, Dan Jewett, George Rabe, C. P. Chambers, W. Ronnacker, and one to the others. Birds will be released on the receivers farms and cared for by them.

Elmer O Bowman and Mabel A Henson both of Sidney were married last Saturday night by County Judge Co P Chambers in the Judge s office. The ten days notice was waived. This is the first marriage in Cheyenne county this year and one of the very few performed in the county since the new marriage law went into effect last August.

Sidney stockyards build sheds to shield hogs and sheep
Shelters for twenty car loads of hogs or sheep are being built at the Union Pacific stockyards in Sidney. The sheds protect livestock from winter weather and spring rains, with cinder floors and feeding and watering stations. Sidney becomes a major shipping point, shipping 1,790 car loads of hogs last year, with 1,108 hogs, 62 cattle, and 44 sheep shipped from local yards. Last year 47,000 bushels of grain and 415 tons of hay were fed locally sourced.

County wide meeting on war memorial proposal in Sidney
Sidney post of the American Legion schedules a county wide meeting Tuesday night January 15 in Odd Fellows hall to vote on a World War memorial. Ship First Corn in Twelve Years From Sidney
The Cheyenne County Trading company will load the first corn from Sidney in twelve years next week. I E Grabill reports 3500 to 4000 bushels at the elevator, to be shelled this week and shipped early next week. The corn grades No 3 and 4 due to cob moisture but is improving with cold dry weather. Western Nebraska corn is noted as superior in quality to other regions.

Ice Contract Leases to William Radditz for Sidney Supply
The sale and delivery of artificial ice will be handled this year by William Radditz, sub leasing the contract from Fred Stuht. Stuht says he will not store natural ice this winter in Sidney, but may harvest a large crop if arrangements with nearby towns or railroads work. Ice at the dam is excellent and currently fourteen to sixteen inches thick.

The Sidney Volunteer Fire department plans a Monday departure on No. 4 to attend the Nebraska State Volunteer Firemen convention in Beatrice January 15 to 17. Delegates include Sol Willis, Gus Welliner, M. W. Riggs, Tom Mills, W. O. Campbell, Lee Gain, R. A. Barlow, John Sherman, S. T. Willis, Al Sutter, F. K B. Tobin and possibly R. L. P. Kegler. They will join other North Platte valley delegates in North Platte and travel via Fremont before Beatrice. The group aims to secure Sidney as the 1925 convention site.

The Cheyenne County Farmers Union Shipping Association was organized last Saturday in the courthouse. President Glen Bales chaired. Carl Mahr was elected president, William Gross secretary and treasurer, and Earl Easton director. Gross will act as interim manager, with eight cents per hundred pounds for handling. The move aims to secure higher hog prices by coordinating shipments and notifying farmers to bring hogs for carload shipments, reflecting President Coolidge’s cooperative marketing advice.
