Soil Cultivation and Fertility in Western Nebraska
The article argues against the belief that soil fertility fades with cultivation, stressing that mellowness and moisture from deep, proper cultivation sustain crops. It cites Teagarden on soil formation, forest growth proving long-term fertility, and urges deep plowing to retain moisture, increase yields, and eventually bring rainful benefits to Western Nebraska. It also discusses local industry ideas, urging a factory on every farm, sheep farming as a decentralizing, profitable venture, and notes limited public work under the current administration plus gas exploration plans for Sidney.
