Charlie Doran son of Mr and Mrs Edmund Doran of Sidney died in Roosevelt hospital New York after an intestinal illness requiring an operation. He had grown up in Sidney, excelled in school, led as principal, studied at State University and was near finishing medical training at College of Physicians and Surgeons New York. Funeral plans set for St Patrick's church in Sidney. Milton Ahrens consolidates Bank of Nebraska with First National Bank of Sidney.
Clara E Scherer daughter of John H and Nancy J Scherer died at her home in Sidney Nebraska on Tuesday January 6 1903 after years of rheumatism. Born September 27 1866 in Montgomery County Hints she moved to Cheyenne County in 1890 and later to Sidney. Survived by mother one brother John N Simla Nebraska and four sisters in Illinois Colorado and Nebraska. She embraced faith in 1900 and found comfort serving her Master. Dead? No there is no death. The poem says stars rise to a fairer shore and there is no dead.

Agent Clifton is collecting annual water rent this week. The U P fire brigade will hold a grand ball in the opera house Friday night. Several officials from Denver and Omaha were in town Tuesday for inspections and updates. A Burlington crew strengthens bridges on the Alliance Denver line. Foreman Morrison reports 106 men on payroll. Union Pacific plans repairs at Sidney and Grand Island, with a major hotel rebuilding underway locally. A new Union Pacific well will serve engines and water needs. the old well supplies town. E E Bubbs of Alliance, a Burlington fireman, was seriously injured in the local yards after being jolted from a bridge. he is recovering at home.
