Pheasants Came to Nebraska From China by Flight of Fate
The Ringneck Pheasant is not native to Nebraska but thrived after early introductions beginning 1911 12. Officials released about 500 birds in Antelope Park Lincoln and later expanded to central counties. By 1927 an open season began in Wheeler and Sherman areas, then widened statewide as populations grew, making pheasants a major Nebraska sport and success story.
