Final Panabaker Christmas display ends after 19 years
The Panabaker Christmas display at Dalton concluded its final year, drawing 3 971 registered visitors and many more unregistered. Heart Fund contributions reached 562.67, nearly double any prior year. The Panabakers will retire the scene but may display portions for their daughter Annie. Visitors from 71 Nebraska towns and 22 other states plus international guests signed the book, highlighting decades of community impact.

Gas Fire At Huntsman Plant In Kansas Nebraska Co
The late Tuesday blaze at Kansas Nebraska Gas Company's Huntsman Plant remains under investigation. Plant superintendent Bob Schilz says an internal pipe explosion on a storage compressor likely released gas, driving extensive damage through the building. Repair work is underway with full renovation planned. two compressors’ radiators were damaged while engines saw only minor wiring and gauge harm. The outage will not affect operations. Schilz commends the Sidney Fire Department Marathon Oil Co and nearby farmers for quick aid.

Pan American Petroleum Corp and Clinton Oil Co plan a package sale of oil and gas producing properties in Kimball area. The deal covers about 1,700 wells and 850 leases with daily net production around 14,000 barrels of oil and 9 million cubic feet of natural gas, across 14 states. Transfer of operations is expected around April 1, 1970. Pan Am remains active in all 14 states and retains some Kimball fields. Pan Am has long been Nebraska’s top oil producer after strong Kimball and Banner county exploration.

Many Accidents Occur Here New Year's Eve
The Sidney Police Department logged a busy New Year’s Eve with four separate incidents, including a collision involving a police car. Fernando Gomez Jr. lost control on ice on 11th Avenue near Legion Park, hitting a tree. Later, a police car was struck by a vehicle driven by Chester Phelps after a red light and spinout, causing about $100 damage. Another crash at 1:20 a.m. involved Gordon Kock Jr.’s car hit by Ronald Timm’s at 10th Avenue and Illinois, pushing Kock’s car into two parked cars with total losses for the Kock and Kocourk vehicles and about $150 damage to the Alta-Yaz car. Kock sustained a knee injury and was hospitalized. A 2:37 a.m. two-car rear-ender on Illinois between Richard Pierson and Leonard Erickson caused minimal damage, about $4 and $20 respectively.

Local Lady Dies of Heart Attack in Alley Find
Mrs. Stan Robinson of 1617 12th Street died in the early morning hours from a heart attack. Her body was found in an alley behind the Bob Hassle home at 1044 Pine Street around 7 am. Funeral arrangements are pending at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home. Surviving are the widower four sons two daughters her mother and a brother. A full obituary will appear Monday in The Telegraph.
