Otto Busacker from Dalton and many other visitors drop in for county seat events and social gatherings. The week features travel from Kimball Omaha Lodgepole and Denver with residents sharing news of marriages, lectures, and upcoming performances at the opera house.
A Christmas Eve ceremony at the Lutheran parsonage united Wm M Gorman and Edna C Kreuger with Rev Grose officiating. Attendants were Will Kreuger Jr and Mary Michaelson, followed by a Gates home supper and Christmas dinner at Richard Kreuger’s. The couple reside on the groom’s farm near Mercer Colorado.
Announcement of the marriage of Eda Katheryn Bergschicker and C Clyde VanGorder at the brides home in Bellefontaine Ohio on Christmas day followed by their brief visit in the city. Clyde, formerly a Sidney resident, moved to Portland Oregon last year where a home awaits the couple. They plan to reside in Portland after January 15 with many friends sending good wishes including The Telegraph.
Jesse Ritchey of Chappell Nebraska and Mary Loretta Carter of Lodgepole Nebraska united in marriage at the Methodial Episcopal parsonage on December 29 1909. The couple are described as prominent young people and well wishes for prosperity and happiness accompany the notice.
A letter from J B Cawley notes three years in Mona North Dakota with good wheat oats and barley crops Wheat at 1 03 per bushel. He mentions only one cold spell and enough snow for sledding with 38 below two days while the writer faces 18 below.
William Gustafson of Clara, Kans, departed Tuesday for Long Beach California after receiving a telegraph announcing the death of his father John Gustafson who had moved to California two years ago to enjoy orange groves and perpetual summer. Friends regret the untimely death.

Mrs. Gast was honored Tuesday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Mack Radcliff with a surprise birthday party. Nearly thirty friends attended a five o clock luncheon after dinner hosted by Mrs. A Kruse and assisted by Mrs. Anne Radcliff and Miss Margaret Stowitte, marking another joyful step into the present past.
Leon Fine hosted a Wednesday night party at the opera house with unmarried smart set guests and Mrs. Fishman as chaperone. Out of town ladies and visiting college girls joined Klein's orchestra as pennant decorated dance hall guests received dainty programs and souvenirs. Vern Bates Roy Libby traveled from Lodgepole and J L Willis with sister Atheryn from Dulton attended.
Mrs. M. A. Shipman learns of her father L. H. Starrett’s death from heart disease in Central City Nebraska last Wednesday morning. He was seventy eight. Funeral held Friday in Central City. Mrs Shipman and her husband could not attend. Friends extend sympathy for her loss.

Washington announces that the Census Bureau will test applicants on February 5 for 48,000 enumerator posts. Eligibility includes US citizenship, 18 to 70 years old, ordinary education, writing ability, and good conduct. Applications must be filed by January 25 with the supervisor of the applicant's district, Jus. Pigman of Broken Bow, Neb.
Mr and Mrs E McLernon host a family Christmas for their children gathered by the fireside. Attending are Mr Louie Bolte Alliance Miss Irene McLernon Denver and James McLernon Omaha with Irene remaining three weeks while others return to duties.
