Two Q Trains Finish Today in Interstate Action

The Interstate Commerce Commission approved Burlington Railroad’s plan to discontinue passenger Trains 31 and 32 between Alliance Nebraska and Casper Wyoming. The last run is today with discontinuance effective 3 p.m. Friday. The loss of railway mail service cut revenue by about 56 percent, and the record shows no offsetting gains. Hearings were held in Casper Alliance and Scottsbluff where officials unions and citizens opposed the move. Trains 31 and 32’ retirement will affect crew members from Alliance and could trigger similar actions elsewhere.
