Land openings for North Platte and Shoshone projects
The North Platte and Shoshone land openings in Wyoming offer about 5,000 acres each. Water rental applications start February 28 1920 in Torrington for North Platte and March 9 1920 in Powell for Shoshone. Veterans have 60 days preference and must show discharge certificates. drawing determines land allotments and homestead filings. Bill Jones illustrates the process: obtain maps, select a farm unit, file water rights with a $5 per acre deposit, and later file for homestead rights if successful, with payments over 20 years.
