W P Miles presided, a twenty-voice choir performed, and speakers recounted Lincoln’s deeds while the audience stood for The Battle Hymn. The event closed with benediction and the Grand Army marchers leaving under Old Glory.

County Superintendent Anna McPad den has finished the apportionment of the school money received from the state. For the six months ending January 22nd the state apportionment for this county was 3875.40 based upon 2 school census of 2450. This is the census of but 68 districts out of T2 exclusive of three joint districts entitled under the law to a share by having held the required number of months of school. Added to the state money is the sum of 870 taken in by fines and licenses. This brings the sum up to 4245.42 Sidney's share of this is 860 based on a school census of 600. Some may inquire why there has not been more money from violations of the whiskey laws. The reason is that nearly wl cases were brought under the city ordinances and so the fines went directly into the Sidney school district according to law.

Bad Injury May Cost His Eye
A. R. LeSeur of the lumber business suffered a severe accident while drilling with a power machine on Saturday morning. A steel bit struck his eyeball bruising it. surgeon's note offered slim chance to save the eye and advised specialist care. He traveled to Omaha that afternoon and no word has come back. The bit remained intact with no steel penetrating the eye.

The U S A theater continues to present improvement daily with balcony seats supplemented by temporary ones and a fine organ delighting playhouse attendees. Mrs M A Shipmen received a sad message this week announcing the death at her Wheatland Wyoming home of Mrs Charles R Mason, nephew of Mr Shipman. Mrs Mason will be remembered here twenty years ago as Miss Lillie Broullette who lived with her sister Mrs Rydberg, a telegraph operator. The lady died from effects of a major operation.
