The drive has surpassed the $1,000 goal though some contributions await tabulation. James Mitchell family traveled to Iowa City to fetch eight month old Larry after eye treatments. Gary accompanied for further examination. A $10 donation came from Vernon E Runge, now of Montgomery, Alabama, who recalled schooling with James’ relatives and expressed support for civic clubs. Girls Found Guilty Of Alcohol Charges
Two 18 year old girls from Chappell and Sidney were found guilty of minors in possession of alcohol. Diana L Nesbitt of Sidney was found guilty after pleading not guilty and received five days in County Jail to run concurrently with a 10 day sentence for another charge. Shirley Freeman of Chappell pleaded nolo contendere and was fined 25 dollars plus costs.

Alliance Construction Worker Admits Break-Ins
23 year old Robert McCaulley, working at an elevator site in Potter, admitted several burglaries in the Alliance area. Sheriff W W Schulz said he led officers to his Potter trailer where stolen items were hidden under a sink and behind a refrigerator. Recovered items included a battery charger two guns two drills and other equipment. He was returned to Alliance Saturday by Box Butte officials.

Charles Lafler of Sidney came in fourth in the statewide Outstanding Young Farmer contest conducted by Jaycee chapters. The Scottsbluff weather bureau warned Panhandle stockmen to brace for a snow potentially four inches or more, with winds up to 25 mph. In Sidney and the surrounding area only a trace had fallen by noon, while the CAA reported 0.01 inch of precipitation. Temperatures noon 18, low yesterday 14, with heavier snow and wind expected tonight and continuing into the end of the week. Fog and light snow affected western Nebraska and eastern Colorado, reducing visibility to a mile and a half along air lanes. East of here driving conditions are hazardous due to freezing rain along the Nebraska border.
