Local control urged as key for Nebraska tech college system

Western Nebraska Technical College president Dr John Hawse urged the Cheyenne County Chamber board to favor local control of the state tech college system. He contrasted LB 344 with LB 128, warning LB 344’s 2 mill levy would delay capital projects. Hawse argued regionalization could hurt access for part time and local residents and stressed the current system serves a wide area. He urged voters to inform themselves and consider amendments. The meeting also discussed regional trade fairs and tourism promotion for Sidney.
