Sidney High Raiders led 31 28 at halftime but fell 64 61 in overtime to Scottsbluff Bearcats. Seidel scored 29 for Sidney, while Madden and O Connell starred for the Raiders with double digit rebounds and steals as the Bearcats pulled ahead late and clinched the win.
The Sidney High Red Raiders beat the Gering Bulldogs 63 to 54 Friday at Gering to secure the Western league title. John Seidel scored 25 and grabbed 24 rebounds while Don Gable led Gering with 26 points. Sidney shot 36 percent to Gering’s 28 percent, holding a 45 to 29 rebounding edge.

Celtics beat Supersonics 10 3 as Jeff O Connell scored eight. Warriors over Lakers 14 11 led by Bill Meysenberg with eight. Rockets routed Royals 24 7 with Steve Studnicka at 18 points. Pistons defeated Bullets 14 9 paced by John Solano with four.
Sidney High Red Raider wrestlers defeated Gering 39-3 in a Friday dual meet, with Dan Nielson earning a 3-2 win at 95 pounds on riding time. Jim Countryman and Curt Blome pinned opponents at 133 and 165 pounds as the team heads to Ogallala for district competition featuring ten teams and state-qualifier stakes.
The Sidney Jaycees sponsor a shooting education program starting Sunday February 11 with a 2 p.m. registration at the Elks Auditorium. Open to boys and girls 7 to 14, the six week BB gun course emphasizes proper handling and ends with a team match. Entry blanks available through the Jaycees and area schools. Three points prevented Penn State from an unbeaten 1967 season with losses to Navy UCLA and Florida State.
