County Plans Planning Commission and Road Project Bids

Recent Enlistments Up Sidney Guard Strength

The Sidney National Guard unit has risen from 75 percent to over 80 percent of its authorized strength. Adjutant General Francis Winner said the Sidney unit is among three that increased strength in two months, with Hastings, Norfolk, and Sidney improving manpower posture as armory renovations proceed including air conditioning, shielding, roof work, and exterior touch-ups.

Manhunt Seeks Gunman After Oshkosh Assault

Oshkosh sheriffs say a Garden County couple endured a 16 hour assault with the wife raped and bound and the husband bound before escaping injury. Descriptions matched Robert Earl Fritz a 34 year old escapee from the Nebraska Penal Complex who fled with about 40 to 50 dollars in a pickup. Investigators hunted across several states as Fritz remained at large.
