Sidney St Patrick's Academy hosts an invitational junior high basketball tournament February 5 to 8 at the Youth Center in Sidney. Teams include Peetz Chappell Sunol Potter Lodgepole Sidney Lorenzo and St Patrick's junior high. St Patrick's will field only seventh graders.

Districts 29, 30, 31, 32 unfold with Sidney as a possible regional host in late February.
The Sidney St Patrick’s Academy Irish travel for two away games this weekend facing Lodgepole Friday and Alliance St Agnes Saturday both at 8:00 pm Varsity. Lodgepole’s Art Huff leads Lodgepole while Dennis Bargen’s Irish feature Lowell Hare Mike Wiser Dan Walsh Mike Kennedy and Mark or Bill Bonkiewicz Hare with 359 points top the team scoring through 15 games.
Sidney Highs wrestling squad travels to face Gering Friday and Cheyenne East Saturday in late season tests. Coaches shift starters, with Steve Mattoon down to 180 and John Jeppesen up to heavyweight, as district tournament looms in Ogallala.
The Minuteman Activities Conference volleyball tournament starts in Potter on Monday Feb 5 with teams Potter Lodgepole Dix Bushnell Dalton Lyman Harrisburg Gurley. Monday matches include Potter vs Bushnell Dix vs Dalton Harrisburg vs Lyman Lodgepole vs Gurley. losers exit, semis and finals on Tuesday Feb 6 with winners advancing to the title race. Potter is favored to win.
The Western Nebraska Sportsmen's Association invites members to a family night program and potluck at the Gering F O E Hall on Monday February 5 starting at 6 30 p m. The group provides meat rolls butter and coffee. members bring a covered dish and their own table service. Richard L. Holder superintendent of Scottsbluff National Monument and Agate Fossil Beds National Monument oversees the program with two short films.
