A historic Vienna Cafe fire finally trapped the old blaze after years of near misses. The building erected in 1876, later renamed Grand Central Worel Cabout, housed 85 000 dollars in insured value. Ten beds and a frame hotel nearby faced risk, but quick action by residents prevented greater loss.

Sidney Organizes For Road Meeting In 1919 Progress Push

At an adjourned Sidney meeting a permanent road improvement association was formed with Virgil Marsh as chairman and Ros Kiley as secretary to arrange for delegates to the Sixth Congressional Good Roads Convention in Sidney on January 15, 1910. A five member committee was chosen, a December 27 session set to finalize organization, and plans for another gathering January 2, 1919 at the district court room with prominent speakers and a possible musical program.

The Wier and Hamilton store sold Cheyenne County raised pop corn. G A Fay reported three acres planted and the entire product sold for 200.25 dollars.
