Oil Output In Decline In Nebraska Fields

The Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission warns that without new discoveries the state's monthly production may dip below one million barrels. October's 1,086,385 barrels reflect a multi year decline led by Sleepy Hollow Field in Red Willow County which accounts for about a quarter of output. Top producers cluster in Kimball and Banner counties while new drilling plans in the northwest seek deeper formations. Fifteen drilling sites were permitted recently, with twenty three wells drilled in November including 16 exploratory and seven development. Cheyenne County added two new fields but they are single wells and unlikely to shift totals until larger areas are developed.
