Advisory committees meet at Western Nebraska Technical College

The Building Construction and Diesel Technology program advisory committees met on the WNTC campus. Committees review curricula to align with industry needs and give employers exposure to program offerings. Members include numerous local business leaders and college representatives.

Health official opposes $816000 Scottsbluff hospital expansion

The Panhandle Health Planning Council executive director opposes the proposed $816,000 addition to West Nebraska General Hospital in Scottsbluff. He says the office building for private physicians may draw family doctors to Scottsbluff, leaving Morrill and Chappell without access.

Nebraska Legislature approves tentative state budget plan

The Appropriations Committee tentatively backs a 1976 77 general fund budget of 350.3 million dollars, with University of Nebraska at over 88.4 million, tuition increases, and allocations to Public Welfare 44.19 million, Public Institutions 28.68 million, Corrections 115 million, and four state colleges totaling 12.6 million, subject to January review after hearings.

Wheat Growers raise fund to challenge export power

Nebraska Wy oming Wheat Growers Association has raised about 12000 toward a legal review of presidential powers over grain export pacts. The drive follows Ford Administration wheat export moratorium with growers fearing price drops and loss of markets. A Washington law firm will assess legality and possible action while opposition grows to grain reserves and a new Nebraska grain alcohol plant advances.

Tentative agreement ends United strike after all-night talks

United Airlines and striking International Association of Machinists members reached a tentative wage contract after an all-night session with mediator W J Usery Jr. A ratification vote is set for Sunday and if approved, 30 percent of flights would resume Monday, 80 percent by Tuesday, and full schedules by Wednesday, ahead of Christmas.
