A five mill tax levy for street lighting was approved, adding about 500 dollars yearly revenue. Liquor tax reduced from 200 to 100 dollars, payable in two installments. Illinois miner C Swanson reports discovering a seven foot vein of high grade coal 35 miles southwest of Gering in Goshen Hole after drilling sixty feet. He plans to return to Illinois for tools and capital to test the find, convinced it promises abundant, easily mined coal.
Nels P Lyngholm a Bronson precinct pioneer and longtime Cheyenne County resident died at his ranch home ten miles west of Sidney after liver trouble. He was born in Denmark and emigrated to America years ago. Funeral services were held at the Bronson school house led by Rev Leamer of the Lutheran Church with burial in Sidney.
Mrs. Brudeen wife of J E Brudeen died at home Monday after a brief illness caused by peritonitis. She was about forty, industrious and devoted to her eight children and husband. Funeral Wednesday in Lutheran rite by Rev Leamer. burial at Village cemetery.
Herbert M. Anderson of the North part of the county was arrested in Alliance last Saturday and brought before Judge Wade on charges of stealing seven head of cattle from E. H. Abbott of a ranch about fifteen miles southwest of Alliance. A continuance was granted until December 27. With no bond, he was brought by Sheriff Lee to Sidney and jailed.
A Tuesday evening program featuring the Peterson Sisters offered rare musical and vocal performances. The performer Lafidon appeared in make up and impersonations of characters, delivering high order entertainment.
