Ballon Ascension Today in Sidney by Mars Aeroplane Descent

Prof Mars, an aeronaut, plans a noon ascent from Cheyenne style balloon in Sidney. He will descend using an aeroplane apparatus, claiming controlled returns to ground if winds permit after reaching about 4000 feet. The free exhibition is funded by local business men and aims to draw a large audience.

J W Reinmuth of Davison precinct visited town to gather material for a potato cave. He has achieved notable yields this year around 3100 bushels, though 600 plus bushels were lost to freezing before digging. Raised without irrigation, his potatoes are premier in appearance and quality and fetch top prices. He ships by carload to markets he deems best, and trusts Cheyenne county and potato country.

Wreck on Union Pacific Trains Near Rock Springs

A Union Pacific passenger train No 2 collided head on with a freight near Rock Springs Wyoming on Wednesday morning. Ten people were killed and eleven crew members plus eight passengers injured. The freight engineer allegedly left a siding against orders, causing the disastrous crash that burned the dynamo car mail car and dining car.

Amendments Sought To Homestead Law For Western Nebraska

Judge Kinkaid urged Congress to amend the homestead law to benefit filings between March 28 and June 28 1904 and to allow relief for homesteaders misled by officials. The existing interpretation restricts entries to the original parcel leaving many, mainly solid homesteaders, unable to add adjoining lands. The Telegraph endorses fair amendments to relieve hardship on western Nebraska homesteaders.
