Postmaster Sherer of Simla visited his mother in Sidney on Monday. Numerous local figures and business travelers appear, with notes on pensions, railroad activity, real estate and social visits. A wreck in the Union Pacific yards and a marriage license in Denver are among the dated items.
Prof Mars, an aeronaut, plans a noon ascent from Cheyenne style balloon in Sidney. He will descend using an aeroplane apparatus, claiming controlled returns to ground if winds permit after reaching about 4000 feet. The free exhibition is funded by local business men and aims to draw a large audience.

Ella Williams named Chief of Honor and Margaret Worden Lady of Honor led the slate with Elizabeth Tobin as Chief of Ceremonies. Sidney Lodge No. 1 announces officers chosen last Monday with Samuel Sweet as Noble Grand Fred Dresser as Vice Grand R A Barlow as Secretary and C M Wright as Treasurer. Sheriff elect McDaniel names M O Sager as his deputy praising the selection as excellent.

A Union Pacific passenger train No 2 collided head on with a freight near Rock Springs Wyoming on Wednesday morning. Ten people were killed and eleven crew members plus eight passengers injured. The freight engineer allegedly left a siding against orders, causing the disastrous crash that burned the dynamo car mail car and dining car.
John O Hall Jr reports Parker will headline the December 15 lecture at Quincy Mays Center. H Ballantyne of the Y M C A lauds Parker for witty sketches and cartoons. The White Plains Daily Record calls him a good joker and brilliant entertainer. Tobin Opera House hosts the event.
Judge Kinkaid urged Congress to amend the homestead law to benefit filings between March 28 and June 28 1904 and to allow relief for homesteaders misled by officials. The existing interpretation restricts entries to the original parcel leaving many, mainly solid homesteaders, unable to add adjoining lands. The Telegraph endorses fair amendments to relieve hardship on western Nebraska homesteaders.
