Hiram Scott Campus Accepted for Research Use
Nebraska regents unanimously accepted the defunct Hiram Scott College facilities in Scottsbluff as a gift for agricultural research and extension. The deal includes land, a temporary building, two residences, and the library science building, with plans to house the Mitchell Panhandle Station and an animal disease lab. Regents rejected dormitories and a fourth campus concept, redirecting funds and approving a Lincoln based diagnostic lab. Governor Exon praised the decision while noting prior vetoes and his study committee’s months of deliberation.
