Report says a group of men previously seen near Redingtons ranch carried a herd of ponies into a canyon. Cheyenne county stock inspector Cowles, Redington, Jack Mallon and Hamlin tracked the band from Potter to the South Platte, found traces at Cedar mouth, and recovered the animals and two men at Sidney. The men claim ownership. the corral holds the ponies. Stockmen praise the pursuit as a curb on predatory theft by Indians and a potential end to raids.
D J McCann Esq writes to old friends after his state trial for misappropriation of goods entrusted for transport by the Government. He seeks to explain the course pursued by Government officials and presents his facts related to the transportation contract case.
In May the U S Court for the Territory of Wyoming granted a continuance as the Government sought a civil route for the contract dispute. The author describes six months of preparation, travel to Sidney and Cheyenne, and a surprising trial outcome, with a forthcoming motion for a new trial and a planned public statement after adjudication.
