Uncertainty Over County Property Reappraisal Plans
Cheyenne County commissioners signed a contract for a complete property reappraisal, with costs around 350000, but they signaled they may delay or cancel the effort amid questions on whether reappraisals are still required after Nebraska left the property tax field. Senator George Gerdes plans to seek repeal of enforcement authority, arguing state valuations are now aligned, while 26 counties have finished reappraisals and some were used to equalize statewide land values.
