Game preserve plan balks over school land near Scottsbluff
Nebraska game and park commission halted plans to buy a western site after a tract near Scottsbluff and Gering was found to include school land. With at least 4000 dollars asked, Governor Weaver argued lease purchase not allowed by law. The purchase price rule and nonassessment of school lands block acquisition, prompting a shift to alternative sites including a tract near Bayard in Morrill county.
