Panhandle forecast notes cloudy conditions this afternoon and tonight with occasional light snow. Partly cloudy tomorrow with a low of 5 to 15 and a high of 25 to 35. Five day outlook shows temperatures near normal with frequent changes. highs 35 to 45 and lows 10 to 20. Light snow indicated at the start of the period.
Light rain totaling about .12 inch fell early Tuesday evening across a wide area, followed by a brief snow that lingered by noon. Roads were slick, motorists faced hazards, and forecasts hinted at more moisture. Temperatures ranged from 11 F at 7 am to the 20s and 50s by day. Officials noted morale boost from moisture and optimism for future precipitation. Six Cheyenne County oil drillings were announced, with exploration activity continuing amid improving farming conditions in the region.
City Manager Toi Coffey told Sidney City Council the town could receive 75 percent funding from federal and state sources for planning and developing future parks and recreation. The tentative list includes a northside pool, a 42 acre park expansion with camping, a Lodgepole Creek bridle path, and adding nine holes to the municipal golf course. A formal plan will follow, with 25 percent local cost if funded.
Leslie Bullington 32 district manager for AMF Tuboscope Co died from accidental carbon monoxide asphyxiation in the Tuboscope garage 1840 Illinois St Casper. He was found in his running truck before 7:30 am Monday autopsy ordered by Cheyenne County Attorney John Peetz Jr. Burial Friday at 2 pm Gehrig & Son Funeral Home in Casper. Survived by widow Viola V. Struck Bullington three sons Leslie Ray George Raymond Thomas Allen two daughters Carol Lea Cheryl Lynn two brothers and his father Ray Bullington of Casper. Born May 1 1982 in Hay Springs served in Marines 1948-1952 lived in Casper then Sidney this year.
The city council approved transferring a liquor license at 1820 10th Ave from Armenia Johnson to Nebraska Enterprises Inc. The vote was not unanimous, with Councilman J. L. Thorpe dissenting.
John A. Talich 80 Lodgepole Cheyenne County resident died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital after a four day stay. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday Lodgepole Methodist Church Rev Gary Aten officiating. Burial Pleasantview Cemetery directed by The Craig Mortuary. Survivor list includes widow Nannie Read Talich three sons Ralph Dale Lloyd, three brothers Robert Thomas Henry, sister Mrs Henry Bosse, 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren. Born February 11 1884 in Geltner Nebraska.
The State Department of Roads nears the end of planning for Nebraska Interstate work. From here a program of right of way acquisition and construction will dominate. Surveys extend west to Ogallala and Pine Bluffs Wyoming this week. Photogrammatists plot a 75 mile route from Lodgepole to Pine Bluffs as crews shift to Lincoln and Scottsbluff.
Nebraska York Rite Masons elected Adolf Wensien grand master at the 85th annual assembly. Wensien, Brownville postmaster, succeeds Harvey A. Smith of Omaha. Also chosen deputy grand master Earl W. Schultz Sidney. treasurer Eugene S. Whitney Beatrice. recorder Carl R. Greisen Omaha. chaplain Carl L. Nelson Sidney. other officers include Rev. Carl Lofton McCook, Clarence Isaacson Norfolk, C Harold Edwards Lincoln, Louis Sylvester Omaha, and John H. Smith Omaha.
James T. Hazzard 61 died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital from a heart attack after years of declining health. Born June 24 1903 in Missouri Valley Iowa he married Elizabeth Garten in 1929. He lived in Sidney since 1960 worked as a carpenter and was a member of IOOF Lodge. Survived by wife four children one brother and 11 grandchildren. Funeral at Gehrig Son Friday with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials to Diabetic Research Fund.
A 1962 Corvair owned by Hardy Clark Furniture struck a bridge railing on a county road near Sidney at about 5 p.m. Monday. Frank R. Foster, 17, of Sidney, was driving southbound when he lost control and collided with the railing. Estimated damage about $150.
An accident at 4 p m Tuesday on Highway 30 east of Sidney involved a 1964 Rambler driven by Alvin D Marzolf 30 of Sidney braking into a drive and hitting a guard rail. Damage to the car was $150 reported by Trooper Del Shipley of the Nebraska Safety Patrol.
Dale Kindred, Frontier Airlines manager in Sidney, reports November boardings at 161, over five per day to sustain Sidney service. This is 11 above October and 24 higher than November 1963. He says November was the best month of the year, with December possible to surpass if weather cooperates.
Sunol residents rally to keep their sixth miles west of Lodgepole post office amid national closures. They plan letters to Nebraska congressmen, noting Sunol ranks high in 127 Class 4 post offices for receipts. Postmaster Mrs. Caldwell cites steady business, six days a week, and vital services for local schools, pharmacy trips, and daily life.

Bishop Kenneth W. Copeland of Lincoln will lead a five night preaching mission at Potter Methodist Church December 13 to 17. He will be joined by singer Howard Correll of Fargo whose bass baritone has stirred audiences across the U S and Canada. The Potter community invites all to attend one or more services in this regional preaching event led by Reverend Ervin Kiel.
Ten month sales of E and H Savings bonds in Cheyenne county totaled $1,165,591 according to H Glenn Spearow volunteer chairman. October sales were $95,615 and brought the county to 117.4 percent of its 1964 sales goal.
Five youths were arraigned in Cheyenne County Court with breaking and entering an apartment at 13th and Rose on Monday night. They requested a preliminary hearing set for Friday and were placed under $250 bond each. Charged individuals include Francis Tiry 26 and Gary Ammerman John Schepker Frank Trowbridge and Burdette Holliday ages 16 to 18.
