Corporations Pay Over $100 000 Tax to Cheyenne County

Cheyenne County received a welcomed Christmas present this Monday as Union Pacific contributed over 75 000 and Burlington about 19 000, bringing total paid to slightly more than 94 000 to replenish the county treasury. Warrants on the general fund may still wait as Treasurer Grabill seeks guidance from the attorney general to erase a deficit. District No 41 shows overdrafts and payroll obligations near 5 500, with other districts drawing on past debts. The two payments, though smaller than previous years due to lower land values, are a needed relief for workers and county operations, though county finances remain strained.
