Death of W. J. Maxwell in Runaway Hay Rake Incident
W J Maxwell a large cattle grower and Cheyenne county figure was killed when a team attached to a hay rake ran away as he adjusted harness. The skull was crushed and the body bruised. his remains were brought to Sidney and sent to Omaha for interment.
