Oil Industry Weighs Selectivity in South Panhandle Drilling
An oil industry spokesman says southern Nebraska Panhandle prospects are thinning as both independents and majors tighten deals. Production remains brisk but focused on secondary recovery, with more careful review of geology for new wildcat ventures. Nebraska yields about 63 000 barrels daily, with 18 rigs operating as activity shifts eastward and Red Willow County slows.
