Wheat Farmers Urged to Use Good Seed for Fall Planting
Expert J C Swinbank urges eastern Nebraska farmers to plant only recommended pure seed free of rye and weeds after poor wheat yields. He advises Cheyenne and Nebred in the Panhandle, with No 60 and Turkey acceptable, and stresses certified seed sources, seed germination tests, seed treatment, proper fertilization, and avoiding shady seed salesmen and inferior grain. He cautions against shipping in mixed seed and promoting new unproven varieties and emphasizes that high costs of farming demand using the best seed for a strong next crop.
