Garbage equipment purchased by city modernizes collection
The city council bought a garbage dump body and compactor from Island Supply Co of Grand Island and a one and one half ton chassis from Kokjer Motor Co. Delivery is expected in 30 to 45 days creating a complete modern garbage hauling and packing unit. The city began the garbage disposal service July 1 using ordinary truck gear. The street department collects trash and the utility office bills customers.

Aged Woman Dies At Dalton August 16
Mrs. Alice M. Pratt aged 77 died after a month long illness. Funeral held at the Lutheran Church in Dalton with Rev. Bartels officiating. Interment in Dalton Cemetery. Funeral Home Gehrig in charge. Pratt a Beaverdam Wisconsin native and 1900 Wisconsin Univ Ph D graduate who taught in several midwestern states and lived in Old Fort North Carolina fifteen years before relocating to Dalton. She is survived by a niece Mrs. Martin J. Noll and a nephew Howard L. Pratt of Milwaukee Wisconsin.

Mr and Mrs E J Hartmann of Blair purchased the Omar Court apartment house from Mr and Mrs O D Slayter and take possession September 1. Hartmann, former CES Masonic home superintendent in Fremont, has run a Blair grocery and locker plant, which he sold to move to a warmer climate for their son's health.
