State Expenditures To Be Met

Unexpended balance of biennial appropriation from General Fund covering expenditures to July 1, 1923. Estimated expense of 1928 session of Legislature. Total Maximum expenditures as above. Uncollected 1920 and 1921 taxes, credit 90 per cent. Estimated receipts other than property taxes July 1, 1922 to July 1, 1922. A 2-mill levy on a valuation of $3,101,804,071 will raise. The General Fund in 1921 was 3 mill and the reduction this year is 3 1/2 per cent, the largest reduction in the levy for one year in the history of the state. It will be noted that credit has been taken for only 10 percent of the 1920 and 1921 uncollected taxes. Out standing taxes of former years have not been used. This is the first time that the money to cover the expenses of the session of the legislature has been raised previous to the session. Capitol Fund levy continues for 1922 and amounts to 1 mill, making the total state levy 2.3 mills, and the amount of state's taxes charged $7,341,149.36. The total state tax in 1917 was $4,484,090.27 and the increase in this year's taxes over 1917 is $2,856,150.09, due largely to veterans' relief, Capitol, roads, and state institutions.
