Irrigation System Pays Off in Cheyenne County
The Valley self propelled irrigation sprinkler system near Potter, Cheyenne County, has proven its value after only a few months. Edgar Anderson and sons Ralph and Earl installed 13 towers on a quarter mile from a 352 foot well, moving via water powered wheels to spray one inch of moisture over 140 acres in 66 hours. The system converts water to driving force, with each cycle advancing the pipe six inches. The Andersons, who drilled the deep well in 1950, see irrigation as a bright future for the tablelands and note soil stores moisture, allowing less water lift from deep wells.
