New Oil Region Emerges in Cheyenne County
A major oil discovery may have begun at the Scheeler No 1 on the Fred Scheeler farm near Gurley as Brown and Brown reported a first drill stem test yielding nine hundred feet of oil and nine hundred feet of water from the first Dakota sand. Producers and observers note the top sand may be tested to avoid water, with completion hoped at the sand top. Nearby wells progress with core attempts and multiple prospects across Cheyenne County and surrounding areas as Ohio Oil Co and partners continue exploration.
