Sidney school building plan eyed by district leaders

A 40 member steering group met Tuesday in Sidney to discuss proposed school facilities. Dr. L S O Holleran and Supt. Ron Reichert outlined needs and potential options including a four million dollar new high school, a three million dollar renovation, or a K 4 elementary reorganization. Architects favor expansion at the west side of the current high school to add facilities and space.

Royalty crowned at Devel County Fair in Chappell event

Lois Hendrickson of Big Springs and Ramey C. Whitney of Chappell were crowned King and Queen of the Devel County Fair. The ceremony featured remarks from the retiring royals, details of their careers and community service, and a Kiddie Parade. The fair runs through Wednesday with a barbecue, western show, carnival rides, and a children’s talent show.

Sidney Names Merle Strouse New City Manager

The Sidney City Council unanimously approved Merle Strouse as city manager, with start date Sept 12. Strouse, 40, comes from Harlan Iowa, earns 23000 annually, and will replace Maynard Dils who left for Ohio.

Turnout for power meeting disappointing
