Cornhuskers Celebrate On Forfeited 1972 Big Eight Title
Nebraska will be named league champion after Oklahoma received a two year probation for football recruiting violations. Oklahoma is stripped of the 1972 Big Eight title and barred from bowl and TV appearances, while Nebraska gains the championship amid controversy. Oklahoma quarterback Steve Davis says the ruling harms OU athletics and recruiting prospects. Davis learned of the decision in the state Capitol press room where he works for Gov. Hall.
