Relocations For State Route 19 Studied In Sidney
Cheyenne County Board and the City of Sidney reviewed state maps showing proposed relocations of Route 19 near the municipal airport and east of town. The airport area would move Route 19 about a half mile north to parallel the Interstate 80 corridor, then swing southwest to reconnect west of the airport. east of town, Route 19 would shift about a mile east to link with US 385 and US 30, forming a straight line from the north to the I 80 interchange southeast of Sidney. A public hearing is not required unless requested. if raised, it would be in Lincoln on August 19. The city council and county commissioners will decide soon. The map drew no objections at the Industrial Council luncheon, and some attendees favored the airport relocation over an earlier scrapped plan.

Noteboom Sticks With I-80 Site Preference
Ken Noteboom, longtime Sidney highway advocate, still favors an I-80 interchange straight south of Sidney atop the hill. He concedes the trend shows a major interchange about a mile and a half southeast, with another similar distance southwest. He will bow to the majority but will not change his own stance on the site.
