Utilities Rate Increase Anticipated For Sidney

City Manager John Baudek says an across the board rise in water sewer and possibly electricity rates is likely when the City Council meets on August 14. A typical Sidney resident could see water bills rise to 5 18 and sewer bills to 210 while electricity rates were not disclosed. The changes aim to shore up finances in the water sewer and electric departments due to rising operating costs and years of losses. The plan would fund expansions tied to the Sidney Interchanges of Interstate 80 via revenue bonds, with credit ratings a concern.
