Water Works Contract Set Monday

The Sidney village board opened bids for a complete water works system from storage reservoir to mains. Des Moines Bridge and Iron Co. secured the contract at 18 750 after discounts, with work to start once materials arrive and water to be supplied free to consumers under use limits.

Division The Question Divides County At Official Meeting

A southern county committee met July 25 to confer with a northern panel. They requested a joint session on August 7 and received confirmation. South side members include John M. Adama Potter Fred Lehmkahl Lodgepole Frank A. Rowan Dalton and John W. Harper Sidney with Adams as chairman and H T Doran as secretary.

Dinner for Mrs McGillicuddy Hosted by McIntosh Family

Mr and Mrs J J McIntosh hosted an exquisitely appointed dinner Thursday night in honor of Mrs McGillicuddy. The guest list included Mrs McGillicuddy Dr and Mrs Stewitts Dr and Mrs Beebe Mr and Mrs Shipman Mr Forbes and Major Merriman. The evening featured notable musical talent.

Letter From McBrien on Western Normal School Project

The county commissioners received a letter from State Superintendent McBrien replying to their petition about a western normal school. He encourages the project, will gather data with county and city superintendents, and then make an official recommendation to the legislature. Postmaster McLernon visited as Potter guest on Sunday while Rev. W. H. Hornaday of Conad spent the week in the city. Attending residents include Hodge Sanders visiting Sidney, Mrs. Roy Kleespie joining her husband in Boise, Idaho, and editor Wolfe of the Lodgepole Express stopping by Tuesday. Local attorney John H. Stenteville and Charles A. Robbins visited, with Miss Harriet Radcliff recently returning from Omaha and Lincoln. A fishing party formed by Rev. James and J. C. Hudson enjoyed Sunol Thursday, and Mrs. S. Dedrick and daughter Nellie visited Sterling. The paper notes ongoing water works contract interest, insurance through Lealie Neubauer, and the Callahan Neubauer building foundation nearing completion under Duggan and Harper.
