A Nebraska state experiment station committee led by Prof E A Burnett and Regent E V Von Farrell visited Sidney to scout lands northwest of town for irrigation aided by Union Pacific and other investors. They evaluated crops on several farms and toured irrigation systems on Lodgepole creek. The group discussed funding through legislature and local subscriptions to acquire 520 acres and three sections of divide land to boost Western Nebraska agriculture.

Local social and a theft case stir Wyoming town
W C Irvine, once Cheyenne county’s cowboy, now a leading Wyom stockman, was seen in the county metropolis. A fishing party at Lodgewood ranch hosted by M H Tobin included the Cummings, Beebe, Tobin, Booth, and Flaherty couples. Constables J W Lee and Tow Burk, with H M Bullock of Payard, faced embezzlement charges by Carl Wagoner over 162 dollars claimed as premiums from German Life Insurance Co. Wagoner says Bullock posed as agent. Bullock claims non awareness of release. He waived examination, held to district court under 1500 dollar bond, and is in Sheriff Babb’s custody.

Prohibitionists Converge in Cheyenne County Meeting
Temperance advocates met in Cheyenne county in a county convention held in this city. Dr Murlless was elected chair and Lee Nunn secretary as delegates announced a platform opposing liquor trade and urging enforcement of Prohibition laws. Nominees for county offices were named and party officials elected to lead the movement.
