Deep oil test plugged as several new wells set in Nebraska
An important deep oil test in Banner County's Singleton Field was plugged by the Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission after the hole was brought to 7,595 feet. Sinclair Oil and Gas Co drilled the well amid rumors of oil shows, which remain unconfirmed. Meanwhile, new drilling locations were staked across Nebraska for basement tests at depths around 3,500 to 4,800 feet, involving Stoeppelworth, Mid-Continent, Socony Mobile, Texaco, Wheatley and Allardyce, J. W. Vandeveer, Banner Drilling, Champlin Petroleum, White Feather Petroleum, and others across Furnas, Red Willow, Lincoln, Sioux, Scotts Bluff, Banner, and Kimball counties.

One Man Gang Captures Burglars in Tennessee
Chattanooga police Captain Bill Nelson, arriving alone, used loud voice and quick actions to corner burglars inside a house. He ordered a door covered and a window secured, shouting for them to come out while others arrived. The burglars surrendered, unaware of the solo operation. The note also recalls Walter Johnson's 356 scoreless innings in 1913 across five starts and three relief appearances.
