The Interstate Commerce Commission will investigate the proposed discontinuance of four Burlington Railroad passenger trains. Trains 29 and 30 run between Denver and Billings Montana, and 42 and 43 run between Billings and Alliance Nebraska. The ICC ordered continued operation for up to four months. The Burlington proposed dropping the trains May 1.

Dix Man Dies In U S 30 Accident
Lloyd D Wheeler 40 died after a pickup trailer crash on U S 30 five miles east of Kimball Nebraska. The eastbound pickup crossed the center line and struck a westbound truck driven by Donald E Walton 50 of Minneapolis Minnesota. The truck carried 750 pounds of bombs but they did not ignite.

The new Sidney Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans will hold its first meeting on Thursday April 27 at eight p.m. in the American Legion Hall. State Commander James L. Rain Snow Drench Nebraskas Panhandle Farmers Hopeful
A broad rain and snow storm drenched Nebraska Panhandle counties Saturday night into Sunday. Official totals ranged from .36 to .47 inches with four inches of snow at Sidney. Farmers fear sugar beets and winter wheat damage but expect overall moisture to boost parched soil. Temperatures dropped to around 11–15 degrees, freezing stock tanks and chapping early blooms. The forecast calls for above normal moisture and normal temperatures for the next 30 days, with local replanting and winter-kill concerns in Colorado fields, while wheat in Cheyenne and Scout varieties show uneven results.

Henry Block 75 Dies in Lodgepole Nebraska
Henry Block 75 of Lodgepole died Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Sidney Nebraska. Funeral services will be held Thursday at Weyerts Lutheran Church with Rev. Alvin Danielson officiating. Burial will follow in Weyerts Cemetery. He was born November 14 1892 in Dawson County Nebraska to Martin and Sophia Block. He married Caroline Folkerts on March 10 1920 at Weyerts church and the couple resided in the area. He served in World War I and is survived by his wife three sons six grandchildren one brother and two sisters. A memorial to Weyerts church is established. Craig-Holechek Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
