95 Percent Loan Expanded for Farm Storage Facilities
Farmers now may borrow up to 95 percent of the outlay for farm storage facilities costing 40 cents per bushel or less under the government loan plan. For higher-cost facilities the loan up to 50 cents per bushel capacity or 80 percent of cost, whichever is greater, with 4 percent interest and terms of five years for storage loans and three years for equipment loans.
Farmers urged to use reseal program for storage help
The article promotes reseal and storage loans to assist small farmers with financing farm storage structures. It explains 2 years of storage payments on 1960 crop resealed price support loans for wheat, corn, and grain sorghums and notes that payments on other crops under 1 year reseal will help farmers cover storage costs by keeping grains under price-support loans after loan maturities.
Details of New Feed Grain Program Outlined
Farmers enrolling in the 1961 feed grain program must divert a conservation-use acreage equal to their corn or grain sorghum acreage. The diverted land earns a special payment and qualifies the farmer for price support on their normal 1961 crop yields, plus support for barley oats and rye. Conservation uses include rotation, cover crops, water storage, wildlife habitat, trees, summer fallow, and natural cover. Grazing is prohibited after April 15 and inspections require weed and pest control.
