Skeleton Found Buried Near Shaneyfell Place Mystery Deepens
A field near the old Shaneyfell place three miles southwest of town yielded a buried skeleton with a rotted box. Deputy Sheriff Neal Thompson and W. C. Ross uncovered the grave marked S. R. Initials on the headboard. Local residents recall two children were buried in that spot in the early 1800s, a Chas. Osborn child from Sidney and a Henry Gaines child from Fremont, explaining the burial in a nearby north south trail area once lacking a cemetery north of Sidney.
