Fed cattle market outlook from Nebraska economist
Everett E. Peterson of the University of Nebraska Extension argues selling fed cattle at minimum weights can maintain price stability and cut costs. Feeder cattle prices should stay steady this spring as pasture demand offsets lower fat cattle prices, with supplies down seasonally but rising later, and prices likely below 1962 levels. Wheat expected to decline to July, feed grains edge up 5 to 10 cents a bushel into summer, and protein feeds to fall further this spring.
