Two-Car Crash West Of Sidney Claims Seven Lives Not
Seven survived a head on collision five and a half miles west of Sidney when a 1954 Buick driven by Clarence Robirds crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a 1955 Ford driven by Roger Armstrong. Armstong and his wife were hospitalized with back injuries while Robirds and four passengers were uninjured. Eyewitness Vern Albro described the moment of impact and the Ford’s tumble into the south ditch, overturning and spinning. The crash occurred at 4:15 p.m. on Highway 30. Investigating officer Del Shipley said the Buick’s left front brake grabbed, forcing a collision with the Armstrong car. The Armstongs’ condition was listed as satisfactory with back injuries and a fractured back for Mrs. Armstrong. Additional details were to be continued on page seven.
