Unicameral bill advances 48 member house plan
The senate sent two 48 member unicameral bills to the house for 1937. A redistricting bill passed 22 to 3 with three opponents. Senators Brady McGowan Mattson voted against it. The chain store tax plan passed 18 to 9, aimed at raising about 400 000 dollars for the temporary school fund.

Complaint Filed In Morrill County Over Dalton Crash
A complaint was filed in Morrill County Court Tuesday arising from an early Sunday crash between Dalton and Bridgeport. Miss Alice Brainard Scottsbluff music supervisor suffered a severe ankle cut while high school students Bill Nichols driver Melville Hutchison Norma Taylor and Milton Spahn and four others were hurt but not seriously. Joe Peters Morrill County youth was the other driver and W R Peters father of the boy is named in the action. The Nichols car overturned at least three times after sideswiping Peters car as both vehicles traveled toward Dalton. Brainard will remain home several days.

Gas tax exemption gains traction in Nebraska Legislature
The Nebraska senate voted 17 to 8 to exempt farm gas from the state five cent gas tax for fuels used in tractors and combines. A house sifting committee was chosen as the session nears closing. Senator Fred A. Neeland, Hemingford, led the farm exemption amendment alongside a bill to exempt aviation gas and create a Nebraska aeronautics commission.

CCC Lads To Be Chosen Here For Camp Examination
Cheyenne county emergency relief administration has received final enrollment instructions for ten CCC members to report for examination at the Minatare camp 11 a.m. Tuesday April 16. New rules allow men within age limits and previously enrolled five months but not 13 months to be selected, with dependents by blood or obligation and no return of allotment funds. Nebraska relief authorities receive 349109 from the FERA reserve to fund county aid for 51 231 families through April 18. The grant covers about a third of the month’s estimated need 1 047 328 with further funds to follow to May 8. The Methodist church Kensington sponsored a 1935 styles parade at the city auditorium Monday night. Twenty five people modeled men women and children garments. A wedding gown and suit from 1893 Chicago were shown by Elmer Ladine and Joan Ahrens. Models included Ella Thorp Mrs Cochran and others as a four piece orchestra played during the show.

President Roosevelt signs a $4.8 billion work relief bill enabling Nebraska to receive about $15.481 million for roads and grade separation over the next two years. State Engineer J Tilley says federal funds will support a sweeping highway program the state has not seen since 1930, with Cheyenne county slated for participation and a potential all weather route on highway 19 after Colorado rights of way are secured. Feeder roads included. Nebraska to gain $9.925 million for highways and $5.556 million for grade separation.

Parole violator linked to prison escape moves cross country
George Sheldon returned from San Bernardino with Carl Smith alias Jack Stevens wanted for parole violation jail breaking and larceny. Smith allegedly escaped from county jail, stole a horn from J. W. Cochran and pawned it in Cheyenne before California officers detained him. County Attorney Heaton expects the larceny hearing next week while decisions by Kearney industrial school may follow.

Ports Of Entry For Gasoline Named In Nebraska Bill
The plan establishes minor ports of entry at Bushnell Henry and Harrison with guards to collect five cents per gallon on gas in tanks over twenty gallons. Way side Merriman Valentine and other towns join as north border ports while major points on southern and eastern borders will operate 24 hours. About thirty ports are to be set up by May 1 in response to gasoline bootlegging, a bill led by Senator C. D. Green of Sidney.

New Minister Takes Church At Weyerts
Rev A C Huth formerly of Lincoln is installed as pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Weyerts north of Lodge Pole, succeeding Rev B C Weibke. The Huth family arrived recently and the first service was held last Sunday. Their son Richard, 15, attends Hebron Academy and will stay there to finish the term. Huth phoned the Telegraph to introduce himself and plans weekly church notices since many parishioners read the paper.

First Hay Importing Started This Week
Cheyenne County reports its first hay importation this week through the Cheyenne County Non Stock Cooperative. Gil bert Helfrich, manager, says a car load was ordered and sold to farmers to feed dairy cattle and work horses. Prices run about 21 to 22 dollars per ton for good hay. Supply is so low Helfrich doubts another car load can be secured from the same source. Farmers are urged to pool orders to obtain drought relief prices.

Land Bank Lowers Rates for Farmers in Four States
D P Hogan president of the federal land bank announces another cut in new farm loan interest rates from 4 34 to 4 percent effective Wednesday. The move will save about 14 000 farmers in Nebraska Iowa South Dakota and Wyoming whose loan applications are pending. This follows a 12 land banks reduction from 5 to 4 14 percent on April 1.
