Dirt filled dam controls runoff on George Jung place
The largest county dirt moving project by the Soil Conservation Service builds a 35 foot high compacted soil dam on the George Jung property, three quarters of a mile south of Highway 30, storing 120 acre feet and draining in emergencies. It will curb flood runoff and provide livestock water. The project, a cooperative effort with George Coulter and George Jung, uses soil from the ravine and features a 24 inch overflow and a spillway for heavy rains.
