Surveyors on an electric road project will reach Shoshone soon to connect with the O S L Wood River line. The line, starting at Milner, aims to run into Shoshone within the next year and bring new streetcar service, promising economic opportunities for the town with visible signs of growth and investment.
Lincoln county news notes rapid growth around Gooding Idaho with opening of 70 000 acres of Idaho Irrigation lands near Gooding to be held Sept 24 and the townsite laid out on Governor Gooding ranch near the current Gooding station. County road access links to Camas prairie and Line Wagon road to Soldier create a thriving community with a bank hotel school and potential beet sugar factory.
Miss Edith Elizabeth Bowler and William D Forbes, both of Shoshone, wed Thursday night at eight o'clock in the Bowler home. Rev Howard Bowler conducted. Forbes, formerly from Canada, has worked for R J McMahon for seven years. The bride is a local musical and social leader and the couple will reside in the Forbes home in the north part of town.
Citizens of Jones welcome a rush as Shoshone hosts the opening of new projects. An intelligence office will aid visitors who need lodging at seven beds nearby. Services at the Methodist church Sunday morning will proceed, though the exact nature remains unannounced. Rev. C A Varnue will arrive next week from Joseph Oregon, after moving from Michigan last November. He is regarded as a capable visitor and the church plans a warm reception for him.
An Idaho news note describes eager home seekers awaiting the Idaho Irrigation Corp opening in Gooding on September 24. It highlights right land water climate and location, a rail link, stakes to mark parcels, widespread publicity, and plans for a bank, two story brick hotel, and steady town growth with canal work led by Slick Brothers on a reservoir dam near one million dollars.
Dr Southwell a Boise dentist arrived to spend several days in Shoshone. Rev C A Edwards and wife move to Blackfoot to lead a larger church. County Superintendent Mrs Burnside returned from Pocatell where a joint teachers normal drew about 800 teachers from seven southeastern Idaho counties. The event was praised as highly successful and may become a permanent Idaho education feature. A teacher shortage prompts a special October examination to fill positions immediately. Burnside will issue a notice next week.
Dr Williams operates in Shoshone with a partner at the Raughting store office. Crowe and Yridue run a specialty service noted for delayed work but advise seeing Dr Williams immediately for dental treatment.
The Shoshone public schools opened with strong turnout as the town adjusts to a regular school schedule. Principal W C Thompson leads a seasoned faculty including Irene Rohrer Orena Crabs Eva Farstow Blanche Gwin Karoline Fu and others, all deemed well prepared to drive a productive year and support continued high school expansion.
The State Board of Land Commissioners announces opening of Carey Act desert lands in Lincoln and adjacent ranges for entry on October 1, 1907. About 2710.29 acres in Owyhee and Cassia areas, plus 160,000 acres in multiple townships, are described under contracts with the United States. Applications may be filed in Jerome, Lincoln County, with per-acre prices and water shares in Twin Falls North Side Canal, up to 35 per water share. The notice also covers village proceedings in Shoshone and routine village finances and adjournment.
Governor Gooding visited Premont agent and considered a site at the great springs on the North Fork of the Shake river for a state fish hatchery and park. The search, led by the Serene and state game warden, has already included Indian Creek Blaine county and Clear Creek Idaho county as potential hatchery locations.
The Journal reports a crowded issue with advertisers and limited space for ads. A supplement was tried for three weeks to boost coverage but will not be expanded now. Printing will become all home print once paper and materials arrive, ending a period of delays.

Reports from Wendell and Jerome detail water strikes in new wells. Wendell’s bore reaches 162 feet to water after initial 202 feet drilled, while Jerome’s well hits 60 feet of water at 42 feet depth. Officials tout high quality water and low irrigation costs, linking underground flows to Snake River desert geology. Fred Cockburn arrives as Jerome bank cashier. bank building completed.
The notice requires sheep owners in Blaine County to follow inspection lines from Champlain Creek eastward to ensure no foot rot, with penalties up to 3250.00. Inspectors warn delays or noncompliance may endanger flocks, and owners must report symptoms to the site veterinarian G. E. Nowie and cooperate with Lincoly officials by Aug 6.
