Senator Clark plans 48000 HP hydro plant at Shoshone Falls
Attorneys N M Buick of Boise and J E Lane filed with the state engineer to divert 2000 cubic feet per second from Snake river at Shoshone Falls for a hydroelectric project. A tunnel 2100 feet long would feed a plant on the south bank, costing about 1.5 million dollars with a claimed 5 million capital. The system aims to transmit power up to 200 miles, potentially to Boise and Ogden. Backed by Senator Clark, J A Creighton, and Dewey and Stone of Omaha, the project seeks to preserve the falls’ beauty while enabling industrial development in southern Idaho.
