Lincoln county fair opens with strong exhibits and events
The Lincoln county fair opened Tuesday drawing good attendance and robust agri cultural fruit and stock displays from Shoshone Jerome Wendell Richfield Dietrich and Goading. A Shoshone race track grounds the fair with tents and exhibits. Charley Haines drove in with four horses as a veteran stage driver. Griffo of Twin Falls defeated local wrestler Bruce Hodgman in a two bout match. The Gooding band arrived early and explored town while the Gooding Experiment Station had no exhibit. Superintendent Welch attended an irrigation congress in Salt Lake, and Secretary Heist fell ill with lumbago. The display of electrical appliances by the Great Shoshone and Twin Falls Water Power Co drew interest.

GOODING STATION GUTTED BY FIRE
The Gooding railroad station was destroyed by an early morning fire last Wednesday. Seven barrels of oil and gasoline on the platform ignited and spread the flames, likely from a carelessly thrown match. The telegraph office was out of commission most of the day, two cars on the Idaho Southern tracks burned, and most papers and records were saved.
