Progress in Twin Falls Power Plant Development

R W Farris purchases $40009 worth of machinery for a new electric plant as Twin Falls Land and Water tightens state contract security with a $75000 attRety bond. DeLong says canal work advances with 500 to 700 workers and Milner near the head of the canal busy. Dam construction to begin May 5 with 175 teams, aiming to finish within six months and operate by July 1. Machinery for the plant to be installed, power from Blue Lakes to drive drills.

County Attorney Frank T. Disney says the incident will protect merchants. Peter Vourbon, a Greek section hand, was killed Tuesday morning near Gimlet while riding a push-car. He fell, struck his head on a tie, and died within three hours. Doctor Farrer treated the wound but could not save him.

The pump was shut for repairs when pumper Vance Stowell suffered a severe steam burn on his left arm and right leg from a blown nozzle. A Greek worker lost the end of a finger while aiding repairs, caught in cog wheels. Mrs Bertha Stowell learns her mother is ill and her daughter Gladys travels to visit in South Dakota. Village Board Looks at Franchising Water Works in 1908

The Shoshone village board met May 16 1908 with J F White J W Wheeler T M Starrh and FP Grosse present and JW Waldron absent. They audited claims including salaries meals gas and lamp costs and ordered removal of river carcasses. They discussed site selection for an oil and tool house and fencing for Greenwood street houses and granted Stockgrowers Mercantile Co permission to move a sidewalk. A meeting on forming a Chamber of Commerce was set for May 12. After reviewing water works options the board favored granting a franchise over issuing bonds.

Bert Martin entertains audience with moving Mormon church program

A large audience in the Mormon church last night praised Bert Martin for two hours of entertaining, instructive performance. The baritone voice and vivid narration drew both children and adults, with scenes ranging from humorous to historical and aimed at mental enrichment. In a separate notice, the United States Land Office in Hailey Idaho records a survey plat for fractional township 20 north range 14 east. The plat will be filed June 11, 1908, after which lands may be entered in the township, per Register N. J. Smarr and Receiver H. A. Honanax.
